Compared with the "four generations living in the same house" and "the atomic family" of our parents, living alone has become the choice for most of us. Nowadays, we live alone in a refined way, and we have more ability and ideas to build our dream home. @Minduoduo, the owner of this home, is a post-90s freelance photographer. After years of hard work, in 2020, she finally bought an old,93 square meters apartment in Panyu District and lived a comfortable single life.
The porch before the renovation was an unremarkable but sunny space. Considering that the balcony of the living room has been closed.
The designer cleverly transformed the porch into a laundry room, which will not affect the cleanliness of the living room, nor waste valuables sunshine.
Duoduo has customized a laundry table near the window sill, and the designer will place a front-load washing machine under the laundry table.
The original living room is long and narrow, which is visually uncomfortable.
How does a small living room look more comprehensive and have a more functional area?
The answer is simple: destroy the original sliding door, use floor-to-ceiling glass windows to seal the balcony, and add wooden floors to make the whole living room more spacious.
Placing fitness equipment by the window and seeing the blue sky and white clouds makes a relaxing exercise vibe.
Designing a French arch door on the parallel wall also subtly fits the French style of the house.
The pre-renovation kitchen is an independent space with roughly 4 square meters. It is highly enclosed; no need to worry about the problem of oil fume, but with a dim light. The usable area is small and can only accommodate one person to cook.
Considering Ming Duoduo is living alone and the decoration's fashion. The designer, Miss Que transformed the original kitchen into a U-shaped open kitchen. The cabinets and integrated stove are redesigned o save the kitchen's space. Plus, the bar counter borrows the living room area to extend the kitchen to the outside, which is much more spacious.
The remodelled kitchen has been expanded. Before, even two people could hardly stretch their hands. Now, four people can move around in it, which meets the needs of appearance and practicality.
The master bedroom has irregular shapes. Like natural oil painting frames, large rectangular glass windows are installed on the walls. Linen curtains are hung to make the room soft and elegant.
The house owner, Duoduo, put a rattan bench under the window to hold magazines and drinks. The bench is also capable for the owner to sit and rest for a while.
Winter quilts and thick clothes that are not often worn can be placed on the upper part of the cabinet, and seasonal clothes can be hung and placed in the middle of the wardrobe. Plus, the small drawers below the closet are convenient for storing daily necessities and small garments.
Considering that living alone does not require two bedrooms, the designer changed the second bedroom into a studio and study. If her parents or friends come over for a short stay,
they can also use an air mattress in the second bedroom, which meets the needs of the office and living and makes full use of the space in the second bedroom.
This heart-warming home customized for the owner Ming Duoduo has indeed given her more solitude and life energy. A major highlight of this case is Suofeiya's professional design. The designer used custom cabinets to make the most of every inch of the 93-square-foot space. In particular, custom cabinets to connect the kitchen, living room, and balcony expanded this 93m space into a visually 120 square-meter area, which tailors the personalized space for the homeowner and dramatically improves the storage space.
